A Religious Corporation is a corporation created with the express purpose of either forming a congregation or forming a place of worship. This is the corporate form taken by churches, mosques, synagogues, temples and other religious bodies in Maryland. Religious Corporations cannot be authorized to issue capital stock, do not have owners and do not operate for profit. At least four adults acting as Trustees are required to form a Religious Corporation.

A Trade Name, or Trading Name, is a name that a business uses for trading commercial products or services. A Trade Name is a “doing business as” name, which may be different from the legal name of the business as registered with the State of Maryland. A business may use its legal name for contracts and other formal purposes, and its Trade Name for marketing purposes and brand recognition.

Trade Names may be renewed up to 6 months prior to the lapse date. If the Trade Name is no longer in use, do not submit this filing. If the owner of the Trade Name is a business, it must be in Good Standing.
