Scheduled Maintenance
The Vision Service allows providers who are authorized to conduct vision tests, and are licensed in Maryland to practice medicine, ophthalmology or optometry.
The results submitted to MVA will be used for patients:
- who are eligible to renew their non-commercial driver’s license using MVA’s web or kiosk services, or by visiting an MVA branch office; or
- who are eligible to renew their commercial driver’s license at an MVA branch office; or
- who have a MD Identification Card (ID) and will be visiting an MVA branch office to apply for a learner’s permit or driver’s license.
Please also note that vision exam information is only valid for one year from the date of the examination for driver’s licensing purposes.
Terms of Use
Maryland law allows physicians and optometrists licensed in Maryland to report vision screening results to the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) electronically. Registering for and using the Electronic Vision Reporting Service (Service) means the users are advised that all Service usage is logged and audited. Any use of the Service other than for reporting vision exam results to the MVA will cause the account to be deactivated and the user will no longer have access to the Service.
